Crossing Borders Seamlessly
Introducing NAiO
NAiO brings together the essential services digital nomads rely on into a single, streamlined platform making it far simpler to live, work and move freely across borders.
I contributed to building the app, leading user research, shaping feature selection and supporting its rollout ahead of its launch through targeted social media marketing.
When Working Remotely Feels Overwhelming
The idea of working from anywhere is often framed as freedom with constant spontaneous travel. The reality, however, is far more complex.
The moment you step into a location-independent life, the systems that once anchored you begin to fade. Taxes no longer belong neatly to one jurisdiction. Healthcare, banking, and even legal identity become fragmented, spreading across time zones, currencies, and regulatory frameworks never designed for mobility.
And yet, more than 40 million people are now living and working without geographic constraints.
Finding out who Works Remotely
From my own experience of working remotely, it was clear that the infrastructure hadn’t kept pace with this shift. However, I was mindful there were many types of remote workers out there so I conducted a survey in order to define user personas.

Discovering how Nomads Live
I then conducted a qualitative study with six people who fit into these personas, examining in more depth how they plan, book, and settle into new locations while maintaining full-time work commitments. The goal was to identify where real friction exists and where a product could meaningfully add value.
One insight emerged quickly: the problem isn’t a lack of tools, but an overabundance of them. Participants described stitching together personal systems across notes, Google Drive, maps and multiple booking platforms. Each move required downloading several apps and joining many WhatsApp and Telegram groups.
A Fragmented Market

NAiO (Nomads All-In-One) was built as a response to this fragmentation with the aim of creating a unified platform designed to support living, working, and travelling seamlessly across borders.
Introducing NAiO

Insights to Shape the Product
Living in areas with reliable connectivity surfaced as the highest priority so the platform provides reliable data on average internet speeds across major cities, alongside essential local guides to help with integration - key phrases, tipping norms, cultural context, and guidance on when to visit.

Affordability was another critical factor in decision-making. To support this, NAiO includes daily cost estimates for budget-conscious travellers as well as an expense tracker that allows users to log and analyse spending across multiple currencies.
Helping with their Everyday Needs

Arrival consistently emerged as the most stressful phase where travel logistics and work demands often collide. In response to this, the platform centralises bookings for flights, accommodation and transport, with all tickets stored in one place. It also integrates services such as visas, travel insurance, eSIMs, and luggage storage to streamline pre-arrival preparation.
Helping with their Arrival to a New Country

Taxation presented a more complex challenge. Many participants were still tied to the tax systems of their home countries, often without clarity on how to optimise their situation. To address this, NAiO partners with a nomad-focused tax advisory, providing access to tailored guidance.
Guidance to Make their Lives Better

Finally, once settled, connection becomes essential. Users want to meet others, stay informedand share experiences. The platform supports this through curated nomad events, user profiles, and messaging alongside an AI-powered travel planner to simplify coordinating trips with others.
Shared Experiences using AI

What began as a response to fragmented tools evolved into a broader insight: the need isn’t for more features, but for coherence and with a system that reduces friction, consolidates complexity and supports a way of life that is already here.
